After U, Na We KKY was the rendition from exuberant supporters of Alhaji Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella last Friday at the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists Headquarters in Freetown, where journalists were briefed on the aims and objectives of the KKY Movement as regards taking the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) to State House in 2018 if given the flag-bearer position.

According to the National Coordinator of KKY Movement, Ambassador Daboh, Alhaji Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella can simply be described as a transformative and prolific leader that can exhibit the ‘Barrack Obama’ leadership quality for Sierra Leone.

The National Coordinator of the KKY Movement disclosed that Alhaji Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella was encouraged by members of the Movement to come and help the SLPP as “he is the only individual with more international repute that can put smiles on the faces of Sierra Leoneans in general and the party as particular.”

“The Sierra Leone People’s Party and country will achieve a lot from Alhaji Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella’s leadership,” Ambassador Daboh stressed.

He furthered that the contributions Alhaji Dr. Kandeh has made to national development are visible everywhere in the country including UNIDO projects for the construction of the Bankasoka Hydro-electric dam in Port Loko District, Singimi Hydro-electric dam in Moyamba District, Barefoot Women Solar College, Fishery Training Institute, Sierra Leone Standards Bureau amongst others.

Alhaji Dr. Yumkella is also reported to have been in consultations with the SLPP, members and supporters on how to rebuild the party and reposition it for state governance after nearly a decade in opposition. “As an International Civil Servant, Alhaji Dr. Yumkella has not been a frontline local politician; rather, he is a quiet gentleman working assiduously behind the scene and through other people across the board to help the SLPP,” Dr. Marctin Gbonda was quoted as saying.

Alhaji Dr. Yumkella, who has resigned from the United Nations as Representative of the UN Secretary General on Sustainable Energy for All Initiative, continues to provide financial and moral support to the grand party from the days of the departed former President Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah to date.

“Now that he has ceased to be an employee of the UN, Alhaji Dr. Yumkella is expected home very soon to work with the SLPP and his supporters in furtherance of his ambition to lead the party into the next poll in 2018,” Ambassador Daboh said.
