Ahead of WAFU Cup Home Based Defeats RSLAF 2-1
The national home based team engaged the runner up of the just concluded Sierra Leone premier league RSLAF at the football academy as a test for the Wafu cup slated to play in Ghana at the end of next month.
In a match played in a friendly atmosphere caught up light in the 12th minute when Abdulai Bangura broke through the defence of RSLAF and had a power shot which was deflected by the goalie Lansana Jalloh but Abdulai Conteh finished from close range to give the national home based their first goal. In the 24th minute Conteh came close to double for his side but Jalloh was alert to deny him of a possible goal.
RSLAF leading goal scorer Seh Coleman had a chance to equalise for his side in the 33rd minutes but his volley was tipped over the cross bar by Unisa koroma in goal for the national home based team. Coleman was booked for diving in the penalty box in the 40th minute. In the 45th minute Alimamy Kamara was brought down in the penalty box and Coleman coverted the penalty to give his side their deserved equaliser.
In the second half the head coach of the national home base team John Mcinstry brought in fresh eleven players. Alimamy Bundu picked up a pass from the right and with his speed he drove in to the penalty area and took a grounder which left the RSLAF substitute goalie stranded which make the score line 2-1. In the 72nd minute Coleman blew away a golden opportunity which would bring the match level but his shot went wide.
Speaking to the press after the match John Mcinstry said he was not looking for a winning rather to give each player a chance to prove themselves that was why he played with two set of teams in the match. Whilst the Head coach of RSLAF in his statement was happy with his side performance and hope work on their mistakes as they too are set to play the next CAF confederation cup.
