Flaming Church Boots Fire Victims

Issac Mahoi

Flaming Bible Church on Saturday 21st February, 2015, distributed relief items to fire victims of No. 44 Ascension Town Road where 23 rooms were gutted by fire last week.

The package of relief items which includes onions, 25 bags of rice, Maggie, oil and a bale of used clothing costing millions of Leones was handed over to the victims by the General Overseer of the Flaming Evangelical Bible Ministries, Bishop Abu Koroma.

Addressing the victims before handing over the items, Bishop Abu Koroma said he was at home when he heard the news of the fire. This he said worried him and so he decided the following day that he should make a donation to those affected neighbourhood of the Church’s headquarters at Ascension Town.

The Bishop said he was only doing what Jesus did when he was on planet Earth by feeding those who are hungry, ill or sick. Bishop Koroma maintained that they are visiting at a time when the situation was not good for the people, but even so, they were visiting to not only give out to them that all is not lost and to thank God that nobody among them is dead.

The Member of Parliament of Constituency 108, Hon. Sho Sawyer, asserted that this is not the right time he would have liked to visit his people.

He told the victims that what has happened is not of their making and that he was more sympathetic because the victims lost their shelters and property to fire at a time when the epidemic is in the country. The MP prayed that God will find a solution to their problem.

Hon. Sawyer emphasized that Bishop Abu Koroma and Flaming Church have been a blessing to the Ascension Town Community and its environs as this is not the first time they have made such a donation to the community.

He said there are various churches in different communities, but they are not doing enough as Bishop Abu Koroma and Flaming Church.

The Youth Chairman, Santigie Bangura, said God has put Flaming Church and Bishop Abu Koroma in such a position to render assistance to them at a point in time when all is gone.

He said that with the visit of Bishop and Flaming Church, the community is sure that blessing is ahead of them.
