I’M SLPP AND I’M COMING HOME! -SAYS DR KANDEH KOLLEH YUMKELLA
The seasoned International Civil Servant, Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, who is also Representative of the UN Secretary General on Global Sustainable Energy for All, has broken his silence on the issues of his political leaning and his plan to return home.
Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella jetted in Sierra Leone late last Wednesday and was a distinguished guest of a radio discussion on FM 98.1D last Friday morning, where he thrilled listeners in Freetown and beyond with his intellect and ability to deliver through and through.
In an exclusive interview with The Spectator, Dr. Kandeh Yumkella said he has packed and he is heading home to contribute to the development of the country as he has done at international level.
Speaking on national political, Dr. Kandeh Yumkella did not mince matters when he said he’s blue-blood SLPP and the Yumkella family still upholds the values of the party, noting that many of his siblings have held various positions in the party.
According to the erudite International Civil Servant, his father was a founding member of the SLPP and the first meeting to establish the SLPP was held in his late father’s in the Kambia District where the party was born.
For critics who are saying he’s not an SLPP member, Dr. Yumkellah retorted that he has helped the party a lot and when the time comes, he would be in a very comfortable position catalogue what he has done for the party in the past.
For those who are contemplating on his membership of the grand party, he maintained that when the time comes he would prove them wrong, adding that what is important for the SLPP is not membership but to pray for the emergence of a credible, unblemished flag-bearer who can win the hearts and minds of Sierra Leoneans.
Dr. Yumkellah maintained that leadership is not about shouting, noting that a good leader should be innovative and have the ability to plan, analyze and execute.
