KKY MOVEMENT FIRES BACK
A staunch member of the Kandeh Kolleh Yumkellah Movement has said in Freetown that the meeting that was recently held in the Southern city of Bo in support of Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkellah was very successful.
The member retorted that contrary to media reports, the meeting was not a setback to the Movement but a serious breakthrough as hundreds of key stakeholders in Bo attended it and even suggested to form their own group to be named Project Yumkellah.
“The people wholeheartedly threw their weights behind the former UNIDO Director-General and accepted him as their own son,” said another stakeholder of the KKY Movement.
Giving the background of the SLPP, he said it was at the biological home of Dr. Yumkellah that the first meeting to form the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in 1951 was organized, noting that his father was one of the founding members of the grand political party.
“Anybody that claims that Dr. Yumkellah is not a member of the SLPP must be doing so out of mischief because the learned man has the right which any Sierra Leonean has to join the SLPP,” the member fumed.
He maintained that when the right time comes, the public will know through and through that Dr. Yumkellah is blue-blood SLPP member.
Another member of the Movement described the former Chairman and Leader of the SLPP, John Oponjo Benjamin, whose leadership left the party in complete disarray, as a pathological liar and political nuisance that is always bent on destroying people with good intentions for this country.
“Nobody said in that meeting that Dr. Yumkellah donated US$500, 000 to the Government of Sierra Leone to fight the scourge of the Ebola; it is only detractors like JOB who are peddling lies about the quintessential gentleman,” the member said, adding, “What we said in the meeting was that the man used his good offices as Chairman of OPEC to ensure that the donation was made not only to Sierra Leone but also to the other countries affected by the Ebola virus in the sub-region.”
He said John Benjamin has been going around bragging that he brought Dr. Yumkellah into the former National Provisional Ruling Council (NPRC) and that the gentleman does not have any SLPP membership card.
“JOB in particular should be careful of what he did during the NPRC era as Secretary General and Chief Secretary of State because some of us will not hesitate to expose his shady deeds when the time is ripe,” said the member.
He asserted that JOB’s hidden agenda is to ensure the SLPP remains in opposition for donkey’s years and would therefore not encourage anybody with the potential to not only become a flag-bearer but to also take the party to State House.
“Dr. Yumkellah has that capacity to take the SLPP to State House because he has no dent like JOB or Maada Bio, who wrecked the economy of this country and handed over an empty national pause to the late former President Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah,” an angry member of the Movement charged.
