Max and Fred boost COFA League
Chief Executive Officer of Sheffield United, Fred Claye and shareholder of a soccer betting Company in Sierra Leone, Mercury International Max and have intensified the momentum of the Central One Football Association COFA, inter Area Soccer League.
Both Max and Fred presented a giant trophy worth millions of Leones and medals to the Association in front of well attended crowd at the Parade Grounds in Freetown on Sunday.
The COFA inter community League is a credited football League that entice soccer fans in the absent of the Sierra Leone Premier League.
Presenting the champion`s trophy to the chairman of the Central One Football Association, Pa Samah Sesay, Claye he`s crazy about, adding that he would continue to support football across the country. He said: “I am back for good despite my earlier intension to quit the game after the SLFA congress.
He highlighted that the sponsorship package is a substantial amount for the eventual winners of the League. ‘’We wish to vow that the star prize for this League cannot weigh against any prize money in the history of the game,’’ Fred told supporters and participating clubs.
Claye who quitted sport following the resentment in the Elective Congress of the Football Association few months later vowed to come back strong in promotion of the game. He continued, “I was inspired by the award I received from the Sport Writers Association of Sierra Leone, SWASAL as Sport Personality of 2013. ‘’The award was a remunerate from the sport Fans who voted for me and I will do more for sport.’’ Says Fred.
And Chairman of the Association Samah Sesay expressed his delight to the philanthropists and called on other parastatals to emulate the good example of Fred and Max. He lauded Fred for bringing on board Max to support the activities of COFA. ‘’Fred is a generous man and we appreciate him and his partner Max.’’.
He stated that the trophy and the sponsorship package is the biggest sponsorship ever in the history of his Association. ‘’we hope to give them the value of their money.’’ Sesay added. He however, named the League Max trophy, adding that they are still looking forward to other donors to keep up the momentum of the competition.
