It could be recalled that Dr. Samura Kamara was handpicked by erstwhile President Ernest Bai Koroma at the last APC National Delegates’ Conference held in Makeni in November, 2017 ahead of the March, 2018 national elections amidst several popular stalwarts in the party who had campaigned nationwide for the enviable position.
Dr. Samura Kamara, according to report, has made some reasonable investment in agriculture in a bid to keep his presidentialambition alive, given orders by President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio that any Sierra Leonean with the intention to vie for elective position in national election should farm, starting 2019.
The former APC presidential candidate was reportedly obdurateafter the 31st March, 2018 presidential runoff results were announced by the National Returning Officer of the National Electoral Commission (NEC) on 4th April declaring the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) presidential candidate, Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio as the winner. Even after Dr. Samura Kamara had congratulated and embraced the winner the St. Luke’s Church at Wilberforce and the Catholic Church had admonished him to concede defeat for peace and tranquility to prevail in the country, he together with the APC hierarchy petitioned the presidential runoff election results at the Supreme Court.
Dr. Samura Kamara’s bodyguards were also withdrawn by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) when he together with thousands of APC supporters went to Victoria Part to pray on the day of Eid-ul-Mubarack, whilst President Maada Bio and Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Bah were praying at the National Stadium, thus giving the impression that both APC and SLPP were running parallel Governments.
Dr. Samura Kamara, according to reliable sources, would likely meet with President Maada Bio to brief him on his recent achievement in the agricultural sector.
