Socfin Romances with Malen Residents

As part of the Agricultural Company engagement in communities within the concession area of operations in Malen Chiefdom in educating and sensitizing the people on the operations of the company, the General Manager Philip Tonks and Community Liaison Managers have been engaging 23 of the 52 villages in the concession area where Socfin Agricultural Company operates.

The General Manger and the liaison department of the company are engaging the people about the importance of bringing lasting peace in Sahn-Malen Chiefdom and also how they can embrace each other for the betterment of the chiefdom.

The engagement the company is carrying to the villagers will involved in land lease agreement, lease payment and the changes Socfin is proposing to improve the transparency as the company is lobbying to government for a bigger share of the lease rents they are paying to land owners.

It is currently legislated that only 50% goes to the landowners and Socfin want more money to go to the landowners. The general manager promised that once the verification of land owners has been made by a nominated team set up by the technical team, Socfin is ready to open bank accounts for all land owners to ensure the money goes directly into their accounts. The General Manager also promised that each landowners will receive a bag of rice every 3 months, month 1 distribution to Zone A, month 2 distribution to zone B, month 3 distribution to zone C and then start back again to zone A.

Philip Tonks also updated his audiences about the visit of the Technical Team set up by the Vice President Juldeh Jalloh, to look into the affairs in the chiefdom for lasting solution and tranquility.
