The All Political Parties Association (APPA) has called on the Government to speedily investigate the UN agency World Food Programme (WFP) allegedly distributing expired rice to quarantine home across the country through local contractors.

The distribution of the said rotten rice to Sierra Leoneans, according to the APPA Ag. Chairman, Mohamed Bangura, has the propensity to kill more Sierra Leoneans after the country would have been freed from the deadly scourge.

“The Government should speedily investigate WFP,” Mr. Bangura suggested, adding, “The rice is not good for human consumption; we want Government to swiftly investigation World Food Programme.”

The Spectator is perturbed and concerned with the quality of rice distributed to quarantined homes and therefore urges the Ministry of Trade and Standard Bureau to monitor food stuffs given to quarantine home.

The piles of facts calling on the Government to investigate the WFP for supplying expired rice to quarantine homes nationwide is a grave concern to both Sierra Leoneans and non Sierra Leoneans.

The situation, according to our information, has put the UN agency in an unpleasing manner forcing its management for an in-house investigation.
