Customers banking with Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) have registered their dissatisfaction with the management of the bank for sending erroneous notification transactions to them in the evening of 30th July, 2018.

It could be recalled that there was a mad rush across the various outlets of GTBank customers queued to check their transaction balance after previous transactions were sent to them as part of their respective account balance.

Fatu Kanu of 4 Watfa Street, Port Loko city should have regretted by now after she cruelly burnt her son’s hands for allegedly eating his father food.

According to our Northern Correspondence, Fatu was charged with the offense of Cruelty to Children contrary to Section 41 of the Cruelty to Children’s Act - Cap 31 of the Laws of Sierra Leone as Amended.

The heartless mother was arraigned before Magistrate Augustine Braima Samura of the Port Loko Magistrate’s Court and was prosecuted by Sergeant 3435 Saidu Kargbo of the Legal and Justice Support Department.

The United Nations Children’s Agency (UNICEF) has supported two hundred orphans and vulnerable children in education in five districts. The education exercise started in June and ends in July, this year.

In Bombali, 27 boys and 13 girls benefitted from UNICEF’s support while in Kenema 6 boys and 14 girls benefited from the exercise. In Bo, 30 primary and junior secondary school pupils received support - 9 boys and 21 girls - and in Pujehun, 5 boys and 15 girls also benefited from the education package.

President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio has visited the national football team - Leone Stars at their training ground at the Sierra Leone Football Academy, Kingtom.
According to our source at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), the President’s visit will spur the players ahead of their friendly match with the Liberia national team - Lone Stars on Sunday 22ndJune, 2018 as part of that country’s Independence Day celebration.

A student at Fourah Bay College (FBC) is reported to have died last Friday during a secret initiation rite of a fraternity group call Climax Club.

According to report, members of the Climax Club on that fateful day took the victim, Madison Bio to a hideout for an initiation rite so that he would become a full fledge member of the club.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), through the Public Education and Outreach Department, on Saturday 14th July, 2018 engaged the Deep-Eye Water Community, Western Rural, on the work of the Commission and how the community people can support the fight against corruption.

Welcoming the ACC team to the community, the local chief, Pa Momoh Kamara, said the engagement was timely and that it was the first time the Commission has ever targeted them. He said such engagements will help the people to know the strategies being employed by the Commission to combat corruption.
